This tea is a great value, with a malty, fruit flavor and robust color in the cup. There are also nice floral aromas throughout. This one also resists overbrewing, so even if you oversteep it the flavor does not become astringent.
Baihao was a major export tea from Taiwan in the very early 20th century. Across its long commercial history it has also been known as oriental beauty (dongfang meiren). Although it is still sometimes referred to by that name, baihao (white filament) is more descriptive, referring to the color of the dry leaves.
